What to pack in your padel bag: the complete checklist

3 October 2026

Showing up at the court with the right bag avoids the kind of mishaps that can ruin a match. Here is a checklist designed for anyone who plays regularly, from beginner to advanced amateur.

The basics: a racket (ideally two, especially if you play competitively — a string break or frame damage mid-match takes you out of the game), fresh or lightly used balls, and a couple of spare overgrips: a grip that slips from sweat is one of the most common and easily avoidable annoyances.

Spare clothing: a spare shirt is especially useful in summer or if you play two matches back to back, along with a pair of dry socks to prevent blisters. A small towel to dry your hands and racket during intense sweating rounds out the essential set.

Hydration and energy: a large water bottle (padel, often played in summer heat with long rallies, dehydrates you more than you might think) and a light snack like a bar or a piece of fruit for longer sessions.

The small extras that make a difference: tape or plasters for your fingers, sun protection if you play outdoors, and a separate shoe bag, handy for keeping the rest of your bag clean and for changing shoes comfortably before and after the match.
